Welcome to Splitwiser. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Splitwiser website, applications, features, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By creating an account, accessing, or using Splitwiser, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. About Splitwiser Terms of Service

Splitwiser is an expense-management and expense-sharing platform designed to help users record expenses, divide costs among friends or groups, track balances, record settlements, organize shared expenses, and manage related financial information.

Splitwiser may also provide features such as currency information, expense search, group management, activity history, and AI-assisted functionality.

Unless specifically stated otherwise within the Service, Splitwiser is not a bank, financial institution, payment processor, lender, or money-transfer service.

Amounts displayed as owed, owing, settled, or outstanding are based on information entered or confirmed by users.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least [13/16/18] years old to create and use a Splitwiser account.

If you use Splitwiser on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Splitwiser is permitted under the laws applicable to you.

3. Your Account

Certain features require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating or updating your account.

You are responsible for:

• keeping your login credentials secure;
• activities performed through your account;
• immediately notifying us if you suspect unauthorized account access; and
• ensuring that information associated with your account remains accurate.

You may not share, sell, transfer, or allow unauthorized persons to use your account.

We may restrict or suspend an account when we reasonably believe that it has been compromised, misused, or used in violation of these Terms.

4. Expense and Balance Information

Splitwiser allows users to create expenses, allocate shares, add participants, record payments or settlements, and calculate balances. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of information you enter into the Service.

Splitwiser does not independently verify:

• whether an expense actually occurred;
• whether a person owes another person money;
• the accuracy of an entered amount;
• ownership of an expense;
• repayment arrangements between users; or
• whether a recorded settlement was actually completed.

Balances displayed by Splitwiser are provided as organizational records based on user-supplied information and should not be treated as legally binding financial statements.

5. Groups and Friends

You may create groups, add or invite other users, and share expenses with friends or other participants. When participating in a group, certain information relating to shared expenses may be visible to other members of that group.

You should only add information that you are authorized to share. You must not use Splitwiser to harass, impersonate, mislead, threaten, or abuse another person.

6. Settlements

Splitwiser may allow users to record or manage settlements between participants. Unless Splitwiser expressly provides an integrated payment service, a settlement recorded within Splitwiser does not itself mean that money has been transferred.

Users remain responsible for arranging and verifying actual payments between themselves. Any dispute concerning an expense, debt, repayment, or settlement is primarily a matter between the relevant users.

7. Currency and Exchange Rates

Splitwiser may display currencies, exchange rates, conversions, or related financial information. Currency and exchange-rate information may come from third-party sources and may be delayed, approximate, or different from rates offered by banks, card providers, payment services, or foreign-exchange providers.

Such information is provided for general informational and expense-calculation purposes only. Splitwiser does not guarantee that currency information is accurate, complete, or suitable for financial trading or investment decisions.

8. AI Features

Splitwiser may provide AI-powered features, including features such as Ask AI. AI-generated responses may contain errors, incomplete information, or incorrect interpretations.

You should independently review important information before relying on AI-generated output. AI functionality must not be treated as professional financial, accounting, tax, legal, investment, or other professional advice.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Splitwiser to:

• violate any law or regulation;
• commit fraud or facilitate fraudulent activity;
• create intentionally false or misleading financial records;
• impersonate another person;
• gain unauthorized access to another user's account;
• distribute malware or harmful code;
• interfere with Splitwiser's systems or security;
• scrape or extract data using unauthorized automated methods;
• bypass technical limitations or security controls;
• reverse engineer the Service where prohibited by law;
• harass, threaten, or abuse other users;
• upload unlawful or infringing content; or
• use Splitwiser for activities that could harm Splitwiser, its users, or third parties.

We may investigate suspected misuse and take appropriate action.

10. User Content

You may provide information such as expense descriptions, notes, group names, profile information, comments, receipts, images, or other content, depending on the features available within Splitwiser. You retain ownership of content you submit.

You grant Splitwiser a limited right to store, process, display, transmit, and otherwise use your content as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service. You represent that you have the necessary rights to provide any content you upload or share through Splitwiser.

11. Intellectual Property

Splitwiser and its associated software, interface, branding, graphics, designs, logos, features, and other proprietary materials are owned by [Legal Company Name] or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Splitwiser may offer free and paid functionality. If paid plans, subscriptions, or purchases are introduced, applicable pricing and billing terms will be shown before you complete a purchase.

You are responsible for applicable fees and taxes associated with purchases made through your account. Refund eligibility is governed by the Splitwiser Refund Policy and any mandatory consumer-protection laws applicable to the transaction.

14. Service Changes

We may improve, modify, add, remove, or discontinue features from time to time. We may also perform maintenance that temporarily affects Service availability.

Where reasonably possible, we will attempt to minimize significant disruption. We do not guarantee that every feature will always remain available.

15. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to Splitwiser when reasonably necessary, including where:

• these Terms have been materially violated;
• an account presents a security risk;
• fraudulent or unlawful activity is suspected;
• continued access could harm other users or Splitwiser; or
• we are legally required to do so.

You may stop using Splitwiser at any time. Where account-deletion functionality is available, you may request deletion in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Certain information may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal obligations, backups, or other legitimate purposes described in the Privacy Policy.

16. Privacy

Your use of Splitwiser is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what personal information we collect and how it may be used, stored, protected, and shared. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is described separately in our Cookie Policy.

17. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the Service and user information. However, no internet service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

18. No Professional Advice

Splitwiser is an expense-management tool. Nothing provided through Splitwiser constitutes financial, accounting, investment, tax, or legal advice.

You remain responsible for decisions made based on information displayed through the Service. For professional advice, you should consult an appropriately qualified professional.

19. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Splitwiser is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that:

• the Service will always be uninterrupted or error-free;
• every calculation or user-entered record will be accurate;
• all third-party information will always be current;
• the Service will meet every user's requirements; or
• all defects will immediately be corrected.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

20. Limitation of Liability
